Cultural Canada builds programs that improve mental health, strengthen communities, and create lasting social impact co-designed with the people they serve.

Youth Wellness

Supporting young people through prevention, education, leadership, and resilience-building initiatives.

PROGRAM 1: YOUTH WELLNESS

Supporting young people through prevention, education, leadership, and resilience-building initiatives.

  • School Mental Health Workshops — In-school sessions that build awareness, reduce stigma, and give students practical wellbeing tools.
  • Youth Leadership Academy — Training young people in advocacy, organizing, and civic engagement to lead change in their communities.
  • Peer Support Networks — Safe spaces where youth support each other through shared experience, guided by trained peer facilitators.
  • Emotional Resilience Training — Practical strategies for managing stress and building confidence rooted in cultural identity.
  • Life Skills Development — Workshops covering communication, financial literacy, self-advocacy, and goal-setting for real-world readiness.
  • Youth Mentorship — One-on-one connections with mentors from similar backgrounds providing sustained guidance and accountability.

PROGRAM 2: NEWCOMER WELLNESS

Helping immigrants and refugees build healthy lives in Canada.

  • Settlement Navigation — Helping newcomers understand available services and connect with the right supports from day one.
  • Community Healing Circles — Group spaces where newcomers share experiences and build connection with others who understand the journey.
  • Mental Health Education — Culturally adapted sessions that reduce stigma and signpost mental health resources across Canada.
  • Language Resource Navigation — Connecting individuals with language training and interpretation so language is never a barrier to access.
  • Employment & Housing Referrals — Linking newcomers to employment programs and housing supports, with follow-up to ensure connections hold.
  • Family Wellness Programs — Support for the whole family navigating shifting roles, generational tensions, and resettlement stress together.

Community Healing

Creating safe spaces for communities to heal, connect, and thrive.

  • Healing Circles — Community-based group gatherings for shared processing, honest dialogue, and collective recovery.
  • Cultural Wellness Sessions — Programming that weaves cultural identity and tradition into everyday wellness practice.
  • Elder & Community Conversations — Intergenerational spaces for sharing wisdom and strengthening bonds across generations.
  • Men’s Wellness Groups — A safe, stigma-free space where men engage with mental health and connection on their own terms.
  • Women’s Wellness Groups — Dedicated spaces for women to build peer support and access wellness resources safely.
  • Family Dialogue Sessions — Facilitated conversations helping families navigate stress, tension, and change together.

World Multicultural Wellness Gala Toronto (WMWGT)

The WMWGT is Canada’s premier city-wide multicultural celebration. Led by MUWEICA, this month-long experience unites Toronto’s diverse communities to promote mental health, cultural pride, and social connection through arts, tradition, and wellness practices.

  • Theme: Celebrating Culture. Inspiring Wellness. Building Community.

  • Vision & Mission: To establish Toronto as a global multicultural wellness capital by reducing mental health stigma, celebrating diversity, and promoting intercultural dialogue.

The Festival Experience

  • Core Goals: Promote culturally responsive mental health awareness, celebrate global cultures (arts, food, music), strengthen community belonging, and empower youth leadership.

  • Key Highlights:

    • Cultural & Wellness Spaces: Traditional performances, mindfulness sessions, international cuisine, and community healing circles.

    • Signature Events: Global Wellness Expo, Youth Leadership Summit, Mental Health Symposium, and the Grand Multicultural Parade.

Project RISE (Youth Initiative)

Project RISE is the flagship youth mental health and leadership initiative by MUWEICA. Built on evidence-informed and culturally responsive practices, it equips diverse young people (ages 15–29) with the resilience, confidence, and leadership skills needed to thrive and become positive agents of change.

  • Vision: A Canada where every young person has equitable access to culturally responsive mental health support and leadership pathways, regardless of background.

  • Mission: To empower youth through culturally grounded mental health education, experiential learning, and community engagement while reducing stigma.

Impact & Focus

  • Challenges Addressed: Anxiety, depression, social isolation, racism, newcomer settlement hurdles, and academic/employment pressures.

  • Who It Serves: Youth, newcomers, refugees, Black, Indigenous, racialized, international students, and LGBTQIA+ communities experiencing social or economic barriers.
